Housing Australia’s collection and management of personal information
You sign up for an account by registering for it. You will be required to provide a range of information to Housing Australia as part of the account registration process. The information you will be required to provide will include personal information (as defined in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (Privacy Act)) which relates to you. It may also include personal information which relates to one or more third parties. Housing Australia collects, uses and discloses this information for the purposes described in paragraph 7 below. Housing Australia will comply with all its obligations under the Privacy Act when doing this.
Housing Australia does not intend to disclose any personal information you provide when registering for an account to any recipient located overseas. Housing Australia's privacy policy (available on Housing Australia's website at www.housingaustralia.gov.au) provides further information about Housing Australia's management of personal information, including how personal information held by Housing Australia may be accessed, how personal information may be corrected and how you may complain about a breach of the Privacy Act.
Your privacy declaration
Before registering for an account, you must read and agree to the following matters concerning the collection, use and disclosure by Housing Australia of personal information which you provide to it when registering for an account.
You confirm that you have read and understood Housing Australia’s privacy policy (available on Housing Australia's website at www.housingaustralia.gov.au).
You agree to comply with the Privacy Act and confirm that you have complied with the requirements of the Privacy Act with respect to any personal information you provide to Housing Australia when registering for an account.
You confirm that you have obtained the consent of any third party, whose personal information you provide to Housing Australia when registering for an account, to the collection, use and disclosure of that personal information as set out below.
You understand and agree that the personal information relating to you and/or any third party which you provide to Housing Australia when registering for an account may be collected, used and disclosed (both internally and to external third parties) by Housing Australia for the purposes of:
carrying out any of its statutory functions, activities or duties
researching, monitoring and analysing the programs it administers or operates and the broader housing sector, and
providing you with information, marketing and feedback materials (information about opting out of receiving all or any of these materials can be found in Housing Australia’s privacy policy, available on Housing Australia’s website at www.housingaustralia.gov.au).
